HENDRY COUNTY, FL (2-minute read) – On Monday, a response by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) led to the arrest of one suspect while two others fled, following a reported burglary in progress at a local residence.
At approximately 3 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a home at the end of Phillips Road after receiving a call from a concerned individual. The caller, positioned at the rear of the property, had detained one man at gunpoint as law enforcement arrived. This individual was promptly taken into custody and secured by deputies.
Investigating further, deputies learned that relatives of the homeowner, who had come to check on the property, discovered the front door ajar and detected voices from the rear. Approaching the disturbance, they found two men and a woman by a truck and trailer, evidently involved in stripping metal siding from an onsite metal building. Tools and cutting equipment were scattered around, suggesting a hurried operation.
The scenario escalated when the white male and female suspect escaped into the nearby woods. Deputies established a perimeter, and K9 units were deployed to track them, though they remain at large.
Isai Obed Vazquez, 30, was apprehended and faces multiple charges, including burglary of dwelling and grand theft. He is currently held at Hendry County Jail without bond.
HCSO urges anyone with information about the incident or the fleeing suspects to contact them at 863-674-5600.
