Self-Defense Shooting in Harrison: Man Shot In Knee After Assaulting Son and Neighbor

CHATTANOOGA, TN (2-minute read) – In a recent turn of events in Harrison, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene of a shooting on the 6000 block of Vulcan Lane around 7 p.m. last Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered Gregory Burnett, who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the knee.

Following a thorough investigation by the Hamilton County Criminal Investigations Unit, it was determined that the shooting was an act of self-defense. Initial reports had identified Burnett as a victim; however, further findings revealed he had assaulted both his son and a neighbor prior to being shot.

Burnett is currently facing charges for domestic assault and assault. The authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community as a result of this incident.
