BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA — A woman fatally shot a 23-year-old man who broke into her apartment, as reported by the local police. The woman, who did not recognize the intruder, immediately called 911 to report the break-in and subsequent shooting. This incident occurred during a busy morning, leaving nearby residents shocked and concerned.

Bartlesville Police highlighted that individuals have the legal right to use lethal force for self-defense in their homes.

A neighbor commended the homeowner’s actions and hoped it would serve as a deterrent to potential burglars. She reflected on the increasing unpredictability and danger in what are perceived as safe neighborhoods.

The police interviewed the woman involved in the shooting and subsequently released her. The decision on whether to file charges rests with the District Attorney.
