While perusing the Springfield Armory booth on the SHOT Show floor, we came across something that we did not expect in a collaboration between Aimpoint and Springfield Armory. It looks like later this year Springfield Armory will be releasing Aimpoint COA equipped models of their handguns.

Springfield Armory X Aimpoint COA Handguns

The recent popularity of the Aimpoint COA red dot, and its associated mounting system to handguns is undeniable. We are seeing it on a host of different military and law enforcement handguns where durability and reliability are paramount. Now, it appears that goodness is going to become available on select Springfield Armory handguns as well.

  • Echelon 4.0 COA 9mm | EC9409B-COA | Black
  • 1911 DS Prodigy COA | Coming Soon
  • 1911 TRP COA | Coming Soon
  • 1911 Operator COA | Coming Soon

While there is a bit more information regarding the Echelon COA variant with a part number and expected colorway, all 4 models that were on display at SHOT Show are considered “coming soon” at this time.

Springfield Armory stated that we can expect these to become available, hit shelves, and more information to be shared sometime this later spring or early summer. It was a bit of an Easter egg within their booth, which was fun to come across.

Final Thoughts

A lot of people like to purport the benefits of enclosed emitter red dots – which have authentic bearing in practice – but the one downfall is most do not meant well, or reliably, to handguns. With the Aimpoint COA system seemingly solving that problem, this new collaboration looks like it has a lot to offer to the Springfield faithful, and shooting community at large.

As always, let us know all of your thoughts about Springfield Armory, Aimpoint, and the Aimpoint COA collaboration in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback and will continue to bring you more from SHOT Show in the coming days.
