What is better than a Steiner laser sight on your handgun? A Steiner laser sight with the MantisX training system built in. Enter the Steiner TOR-X with integrated MantisX.

The best, most accurate handgun you can buy, combined with the highest-end optic or laser sight, won’t do you much good if you don’t practice with it on a regular basis. The problem with regular practice, for any of us who are not otherwise in the professional field of firearms training, is that it takes time and money.

What if I told you the time commitment could be reduced if you didn’t have to drive to a shooting range or otherwise go outside to set everything up? What if I told you that you could save money by not having to spend so much on ammunition for live fire training? What if I told you you could solve both problems AND get a high-end laser for your handgun at the same time?

This is what the Steiner TOR-X with MantisX technology offers.

How Dry Fire Practice Can Improve Your Accuracy

Dry firing your handgun is certainly not the same quality training as firing live ammunition; HOWEVER, it can be a great, free way to add more training time and – ultimately – improve your accuracy when you move to ammunition. If the handgun can withstand it without damage (modern firearms can), it’s an effective way to improve your skills Here is how:

1. Enhance Muscle Memory

Consistent dry fire practice helps build and reinforce muscle memory. By repeatedly practicing the fundamentals—such as drawing from the holster, sight alignment, and trigger press—your body becomes accustomed to these actions, making them second nature during live fire scenarios. This automaticity is crucial in high-stress situations where split-second reactions are necessary.

2. Improve Trigger Control

One of the most significant benefits of dry fire practice is improving trigger control. Without the recoil and noise of live fire, shooters can concentrate on achieving a smooth, steady trigger pull, which is essential for accuracy. This focused practice helps reduce anticipation and flinching, common issues that can negatively impact shooting performance.

3. Cost-Effective Training

Ammunition can be expensive, and regular trips to the shooting range can quickly add up. Dry fire practice is a cost-effective way to maintain and enhance your shooting skills without the need for constant ammunition expenditure. All you need is a safe practice area and your unloaded handgun.

4. Convenience

Dry fire practice can be done virtually anywhere, making it incredibly convenient for busy individuals. Whether at home or in a private space, you can practice various drills and techniques without the constraints of range availability or operating hours. This flexibility allows for more frequent and consistent training sessions.

5. Identifying and Correcting Flaws

Practicing without live fire provides an opportunity to closely analyze and correct any flaws in your technique. Without the distraction of recoil, you can focus on each aspect of your form, from grip and stance to sight picture and follow-through. This detailed scrutiny helps refine your overall shooting proficiency.

MantisX Technology Improves Dry Fire Practice

The problem with dry fire practice alone is that you are not able see where your trigger pull and aim would land on a target. The MantisX program overcomes this problem. You attach the MantisX device, in this case the Steiner TOR-X, connect it to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, use it, and watch the data be collected and analyzed in the program on your phone.

The MantisX software offers different training modes and courses, different groups for training, a shot timer, and more. The feedback is collected and presented with a score, direction, and suggestions for improving shots. It will also track your history so you can see your improvement over time.

Steiner Tor-X Optic Adds Laser Functionality

Steiner, well-known in the industry for its offering of high-end optics, incorporates MantisX in this laser unit. The laser itself is a powerful green laser with <5 mW aiming capability offering pinpoint accuracy and target acquisition. All Steiner products are built combat tough, and this one is no exception.

The laser is housed in a Type III hard-anodized machined-aluminum housing and rail mount. It’s dust proof and splash proof. It accommodates ambidextrous use, low battery indicator, and windage and elevation bore sight adjustment screws. The universal rail mount will fit all pistols that have a Picatinny or Weaver rail. In essence, the Steiner TOR-X comes with everything you would expect from a high-end Steiner optics PLUS the MantisX technology.
