Congressional appropriators will unveil their first draft of the fiscal 2026 federal budget this week, with a House committee mark-up of planned funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects. The largest egg producer in the Southwest has been shut down because of the bird flu. The virus allegedly wiped out nearly all of Hickman’s Family Farms’ chickens in Arizona. The company’s President and CEO, Glenn Hickman, told Newsweek in a Saturday phone call that he had to cut his staff and start rebuilding his flock.
