Armed Homeowner Wastes No Time Stopping Intruder, Shooting Him In The Leg

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — In the early hours of Tuesday, a man was shot in the leg during a break-in at an Indianapolis residence. The incident, which occurred around 5 a.m. on Forest Avenue, involved a homeowner, Alfred Burdine, confronting an intruder attempting to steal a generator.

Burdine reported that he shot the suspect in self-defense after the latter appeared to be reaching for a weapon. The confrontation led to damage to Burdine’s home and garage doors.

Burdine expressed reluctance about shooting but felt compelled to protect himself and his property.
