COMMERCE CITY, CO (1-minute read) — A suspect was fatally shot by a homeowner during an overnight home invasion in Commerce City. According to the Commerce City Police Department, officers responded to a call from a resident in the 5300 block of E 64th Avenue. The adult male homeowner reported he had been injured during an attack inside his home and had shot an unknown intruder.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspected intruder, also an adult male, deceased inside the residence. The homeowner, who sustained injuries, is expected to recover.

Commerce City police stated that the incident is under ongoing investigation, and further details cannot be disclosed at this time. The identity of the deceased individual will be released by the Adams County Coroner.
