The death of TikTok was exaggerated, and it continues to grow (under American ownership, now) beyond its dance-clip roots. Preppers are everywhere, and one of the main hallmarks of preparedness is information sharing, so it makes sense that TikTok has become a platform with thousands of preppers sharing videos.

Some creators promote preparedness products, others share practical prepping advice, and even more do both. There are preppers out there sharing videos with their tens of followers, but the best accounts are resonating with hundreds of thousands. We’ll share more about TikTok preppers and the top 10 accounts to follow below.

Contents (Jump to a Section)

We’ll update this list annually to showcase the preppers having the highest impact on TikTok.

What is a TikTok Prepper?

TikTok Preppers are individuals who film content about their prepping lifestyle, share survival tips, or offer preparedness commentary on TikTok. Prepping is a huge umbrella, so we had to evaluate and exclude prepping-adjacent creators, such as exclusive homesteading, firearm, wilderness survival, and food preservation accounts. You can learn more about what prepping is in one of our introduction articles: What is Prepping and What is a Prepper?

We also limited our list to preppers as people, rather than accounts. Some anonymous accounts post memes, tips, or images that have large followings. Those TikTok accounts aren’t trash, but we’re more interested in the creators who personally use TikTok to share their preparedness journey.

Top 10 Preppers on TikTok

We discuss our ranking criteria further below, but it mostly relies on follower count. The list itself is influenced by how on-topic they are with prepping, so if preparedness is not the creator’s main focus, we’re simply not including them in our consideration.

Follower count is still a good measure of popularity, so that helps us distill down the huge number of preppers out there who are posting quality content to the top 10 in ranked order. If you are looking for less-popular creators worth following, you’ll need to check out our honorable mention section.

Country Girl Prepper

Rank = 10, Previous = NA

Followers: 105.6K (⇧27.1K)

Country Girl Prepper has a huge following for only getting started in December 2023. She shares broad tips about bug out bags and preparedness, but also showcases various gear that you may not have thought to include in your own setup.

Lately, we’ve seen her getting outside more, which is nice to see since it matches her handle. There are a lot of preppers hanging out at the 100K follower mark (most of them down in our honorable mentions section), so we’ll see how she does during the year and whether her product-focused strategy helps her climb the ranks or bumps her from the list.

Rob Benson, a prepping Instagram creator in his cabin.

Rob Benson

Rank = 9, Previous = NA

Followers: 118.9K (⇧28.5K)

Rob Benson first blew up around COVID. He’s been banned several times for sharing his thoughts on the topic and has had to rebuild his channel. At this point, he avoids the topic and grows his following by promoting general preparedness and sharing his general frustrations at societal limitations and over-reaching governance, which has recently turned non-partisan- the system itself is in his crosshairs.

His account has a TikTok-implemented warning label on his profile, displaying “Posts that some may find uncomfortable are unavailable.” Despite TikTok hamstringing his following and reach, he continues to post and grow, and shares useful nuggets of knowledge.

Over time, he has honed in on the ‘talking head’ style of post and keeps his advice and thoughts concise and focused. Early on, he would share posts that highlighted beautiful views and vistas from his cabin and land, which were nice but meandering. The current format seems to work well for him and his lifestyle, since he does have a family that he keeps off camera (which is usually wise).

Storm Preps.

Storm Preps

Rank = 8, Previous = NA

Followers: 119.2K (⇧21.9K)

Storm Preps is another prepper who has been slapped with a TikTok warning label on their profile, but not before he built up a massive follower count. While he used to go heavy into gear, like Level IV body armor, he now mostly showcases gear- and not all of it is related to prepping.

If we used a ranking algorithm rather than follower count as criteria, we might not see this guy in our top 10 right now. We’d like to see him get back to his roots over the next year, but TikTok’s algorithm prioritizes the TikTok shop, so we can’t blame him for trying to get his bag. I guess we’ll see how it plays out with his followers over the next year.

SafePrep

SafePrep

Rank = 7, Previous = NA

Followers: 159.2K (⇧31.5K)

If you root for anyone to climb the ranks of TikTok preppers over the year, SafePrep is the one. He’s not afraid to look a bit silly in his videos and blends comedy with preparedness to great effect. He’ll teach you concepts, tips, and skills, and leave you chuckling at the same time.

He takes breaks occasionally, which is a good sign that he’s taking care of his mental health. The creators who actually make unique, compelling, and original content are running a grind behind the scenes when it comes to brainstorming, filming, editing, and interacting with the communities they build.

Andy Fitzpatrick.

Andy Fitzpatrick

Rank = 6, Previous = NA

Followers: 186.6K (⇧81K)

Andy only started on TikTok with an urban fishing video in 2024 and has built up a legit following since then. He’s got a bit longer beard since then, and he shares great practical prepping advice.

It’s nice that he’s being rewarded despite not sharing very many videos that feature products. If you don’t want to scroll through TikTok and be sold something in every video, you should give Andy a follow so you see more of his advice in your feed.

ratedspecialk

RatedSpecialK

Rank = 5, Previous = NA

Followers: 192.9K (⇧9.5K)

Katie built a following in the preparedness space, sharing practical prepping tips since early 2023. As her journey continued, we saw her lean into natural medicine more and more over the years. Now she has a market stall, a home apothecary, and focuses much more on those and product pitches.

Still, her most popular videos and what catapulted her following were the videos she shared about prepping items with an unlimited shelf life.

Commonwealth Prepper.

Commonwealth Prepper

Rank = 4, Previous = NA

Followers: 202.5K (⇧7.8K)

This faith-heavy account started in 2022, still has the TikTok warning label, and doesn’t have a ton of videos available at the time of this ranking. He shares videos mostly of preparedness products.

While his follower count didn’t tick up much over the past year, he has a solid footing of over 200K followers to share his preparedness advice with, supported by his experience as a veteran.

Canadian Prepper YouTube Channel's Nate Polsen

Canadian Prepper

Rank = 3, Previous = NA

Followers: 236.1K (⇧6.3K)

The number one YouTube prepper has found some success on TikTok with a variety of shorts clipped from his long-form content, or even custom-made for the TikTok audience.

I think everyone is familiar with Nate Polson at this point, so you know what to expect over at his TikTok. I like how the clips are bite-sized, which filters out most of the monologues from his standard videos and leaves the main points.

Housewife Prepper of Instagram reading a prepper newspaper with hair in a towel.

Housewife Prepper

Rank = 2, Previous = NA

Followers: 256.1K (⇧22.2K)

Carrie is the top prepper on Instagram, but puts up solid numbers with a huge following on TikTok as well. She has been actively posting on TikTok since 2022 and has cemented her status at the top of social media when it comes to preparedness.

She and her husband (the main performer in her videos) share solid prepping advice frequently from their beautiful spot out in Montana. Carrie is admittedly camera-shy, but that hasn’t stopped her meteoric rise, and the way she has her hubby do all of the tasks for the camera is somewhat endearing.

Prepper Press Derrick James.

Prepper Press

Rank = 1, Previous = NA

Followers: 330.7K (⇧217.9K)

Active on TikTok since 2022, Derrick James has been online for much longer than that. He started one of the first prepper blogs in 2007 called SHTF Blog, and has had his YouTube channel active since 2011. He’s adapted some of his long-form videos into shorts that have translated well to TikTok, helping with his rapid rise to number 1.

His meteoric rise can mostly be attributed to his 2025 performance, with a massive 200K+ increase in follower count. It’s not the result of virality or a flawed algorithm- he’s simply sharing the best prepping advice in the best way on TikTok.

Honorable Mention Creators

With TikTok’s 1.8 billion active users, there are plenty of preppers who can make their mark spreading preparedness. Sharing ten creators and limiting our list by follower count won’t help the smaller accounts grow, so we have an honorable mention section highlighting some of our favorites with fewer followers.

These creators are grinding to get more followers and could use your support to climb into our top rankings and reach even more people.

  • Tactical Belle – 98.4K followers – While she saw a large increase in followers, her TikTok counts are dwarfed by her Instagram success.
  • The Prepping Momma – 97.2K followers – With a shrinking follower count over the past year, this creator just barely missed out on the top 10.
  • Appalachian Prepper – 83.2K followers – Rebuilding his FOURTH account, AP is used to bans at this point and is bouncing back quickly, yet again.
  • leftistprepper – 59.7K followers – Most people assume prepping is a right-wing-only thing, and they are more wrong than ever. Zoe shows them why.
  • Dad Dangerously – 54.4K followers – This prepper dad has been catching on lately, and is rising at a fast clip.
  • prettyinprep – 51.6K followers – We just wish this spunky prepper posted more.
  • The Urban Prepper – 29.7K followers – Cliff (from YouTube) shares a lot of memes and returned to YouTube in 2025 after a long hiatus.

Although we track dozens of TikTok accounts in our ranking spreadsheet, we likely missed a few accounts- maybe even some of your favorites. Let us know in the comments if we should add one to our annual review.

Just remember that we are looking for prepping-focused creators, not AI, Pinterest tips, memes, etc.

Banned & Retired TikTok Accounts

TikTok can be brutal for creators with its heavy-handed ban policies. Prepping creators can spend thousands of hours building up huge followings for their accounts to be banned for seemingly innocuous reasons.

It can also be a grind for creators, with all of the hours that they pour in, despite an unpredictable algorithm that can penalize and promote seemingly at whim. For that reason, personal reasons, or a disenchantment with TikTok in general, we’ve seen them hang up their hats and post their last videos.

Here are the most notorious TikTok creators who no longer post:

  • Semper Parata [Retired?] – She lost the signature dreadlocks and has been more involved with her church and a podcast. She had over a quarter million followers at her peak.
  • Perky Prepper [Retired] – Taylor Kenney pivoted from her 200K+ follower prepping TikTok account to economics as the co-creator of ITM Trading, a YouTube channel with 530K+ followers.
  • Novice Prepper [Retired] – Dylan passed 110K followers in one year (2022-2023), and then mysteriously quit posting.
  • Texas Prepper Mom [Retired] – The ‘Soccer Mom of Prepping’ amassed 100K+ followers, but hasn’t put up a post on any media platform since 2023.

Some don’t even leave their accounts up when they are done- whether it’s bans or personal deletion. We most miss posts from:

  • SamBeReady – With a whopping 425K followers in 2025, Sam would be #1 on this list if his account were still around.
  • Shahzad Kayani – He built up a respectable 91K followers before he was reset to zero in 2025.

TruePrepper’s TikTok

Although we have a TikTok account, we’re nowhere near the caliber of content the top 10 (or the honorable mention) put out. Still, we appreciate it when people follow along.

How We Ranked Accounts

Typically, we use complex algorithms to rank our top 10 lists or compare gear in our reviews. We took a break from that approach when it came to TikTok by simply excluding creators who weren’t mostly focused on prepping.

This left the follower count as the main metric for comparison, so that’s what we used. Followers are still a good benchmark of popularity and relevance, despite them not necessarily correlating to quality and how many people are being reached.

The descriptions of the accounts in the top ten share our personal views on their validity. Inclusion in our honorable mention means that we follow those accounts and suggest you do as well.

If you have any issues with our approach, please leave us some constructive criticism in the comments. We strive to be transparent, not just with our survival gear reviews, but also with our ranking systems.

The Final Word

Social media definitely has its drawbacks, but it can also be a useful tool as long as you control the app properly. If you add these creators to your feed, make sure you check the ‘Following’ tab, rather than doom-scroll endlessly on FYP or Explore. Follow some quality prepping accounts, and it’ll improve your preparedness while keeping you entertained.

Here are some other social media options worth considering:

If you have any favorite TikTok creators that we may have missed or chose not to rank, weigh in below in the comment section. We’ll always take the time to review it before our next roundup and see where they stack up.
